Today is my last day in Slovenia, and I'll keep this kind of short as I still have to shower and pack for my 9:25 pm train to Switzerland.
I've been staying with my friend Bernarda for the last two weeks, hanging out, meeting various friends, family, etc. For me, Slovenia the country is a lot like Colorado or the Rocky Mountains of the US. The difference is that there is much less people. Those people that I've met so far have also been really nice and incredibly hospitable. This is my second trip to Slovenia with my first trip being back in the summer of 2004.
While here I've tasted traditional Slovenian cuisine of all sorts, met a lot of the locals in and around Lesce, Bled, and Radovlica. Highlights included trips to Gorenska--Kranjska Gora viewing the beautiful Julian Alps, Lake Bohinj and the famous Savica Waterfall (during a snowfall putting us at times almost up to our knees in snow on the hike to the FROZEN waterfall), and of course the ever picturesque Lake Bled (I'll see if I can add the pics from Lake Bled later...) Berni and I also got the chance to visit the Primorska province to visit and party hard with her cousin and fellow traveler Maja (I met Berni and Maja in Hawaii 3 years ago). Mixed in with all the sightseeing was lots of time being in great company with all the friends and family I met along the way. Of course much respect goes out to Berni for putting up with me for the last two weeks; wishing her much love and best wishes with all her dreams... :)
Next stop for me is Switzerland, spending time with my friend Isabelle in the Lake Neuchatel area, working on my French, and prepping for the 3-month journey through West Africa, which begins on the 30th of March... more to follow!!!
-Peace-
Chris
