Pucallpa, Peru!

Hello everyone,

It has been a while since I last updated the blog. I spent the last month at home with my parents in Virginia, enjoying some relaxing family time and provisioning up for this trip, which is currently under way...

I arrived in Lima, Peru on the 25th of September, and stayed in Lima for 3 days, where I got to hang out with new friend Tre, fellow American, and also traveling Peru solo... Also got to meet plenty of Israelis at the hostel (K'usillu's Hostel); a lot of young Israelis travel South America after their 2 or 3 year compulsory military service is complete, and travel anywhere from Mexico, all the way down to Argentina...

Yesterday, I began the 20 hour bus ride from Lima to Pucallpa, by way of the Peruvian Andes. You can really feel the altitude when spending nearly 5-7 hours above 11,000 to 12,000 ft (3500+ meters) above sea level; air is rare at that altitude. I arrived in Pucallpa early this afternoon, and will be ready to embark on a 5-7 day boat ride to get to Iquitos, Peru, the largest city not accessible by road... More narrative and photos to follow!

Ciao,
Chris

Hey Son; Great hearing from you. Had checked the blog the last couple of days to see whether there was an entry. Surprised and glad to see one tonight. Great having you home, but could see you starting to get antsy to get your South America trip underway, ha! Always fun having you home for a while. Pics from Europe and Africa were stunning. Looking forward to the ones from that part of the world. You take care, have fun and be safe. Will correspond again soon. We love you!!
